August 9 Tuesday
We took the Honda to Banff for a day of touring. First stop was the Banff Gondola to Sulphur Mountain 7449 feet above sea level. The ride took about eight minutes and climbed 5120 vertical to the upper terminal at Sanson Peak. From there we took a boardwalk trail 2/3rd of a mile to the top of Sulphur Mountain where a weather station was built in 1901 to observe solar activity. The view was amazing. We could see 25 miles north towards the route we came from Jasper. We also could see all of Banff Village which is actually a good size town.
Our next stop was Lake Minnewanka about 20 minutes out of Banff. We were too lake to take the cruise to the end of the lake and the next one would not start until 3:00 pm. We took a one mile walk around the lower part of the lake until we crossed a river that fad the lake, then walked back to our car. Back home with plenty of photos we walked the dog and kicked back. Tomorrow we head out of Gods county to Calgary to get the genset fixed and prepare to go back to the US of A.
