August 8 Monday
Up early and out to breakfast in Lake Louise Village. Finished breakfast and off to Lake Louise. Short ride 2 miles out of town to the lake. Very large lodge (750 rooms). The lake is glacier feed so it has that green gray appearance caused by the rock flour or glacier flour being washed into the lake from the glacier. The lake is beautiful, very calm with a glassy surface. You can see the main glacier that feed the lake from the trail around part of the lake. In all the lake is feed by 6 glaciers.

Next we headed for Moraine Lake about 8 miles north of Lake Louise. This lake is darker blue and surrounded by sheer cliff mountains rising to 12,500 feet on three sides. This lake is blue in color since it is feed by snow melt from the glaciers that are Posted by Picasa
